Abstract

Domestic violence done by parents to their kids frequently becomes a human activity strongly disallowed to do as it will impact on the development of the kids either mentally or physically.  This study will analyze such phenomenon found in “The Heretic’s Daughter” novel telling about an affectation of a mother who is exhaustively presumed as an ill-mannered parent; but later found to be the hero of the family; in treating her kids. It will be seen from deconstruction view as it seems to accept ferocious treatment like smacking and slapping of Martha (the mother) to Sarah (the daughter). in analyzing the intrinsic element of this object which is mainly focused on the character, this study will be substantiated with psychological approach as well as the theory of family communication concerning parents-children interaction.

By mainly employing deconstruction theory, this study will uncover the hidden intention of Martha in doing corporal punishment that later turn to be accepted and even be adored by her family as a Hero.
