Abstract

ABSTRACT

Rahwana, Rama, and Sinta are the main characters in the Ramayana story. However, Rahwana is the antagonist while Rama is the protagonist in the Ramayana story. As an antagonist, Rahwana is shown as a cruel and arbitrary giant king. In other words, Ravana is a symbol of anger and Rama is a symbol of a true knight with good character. The stigma of Rahwana as a cruel giant king was not found in the novel Rahuvanna Tattwa by Agus Sunyoto. Instead, in the novel, Rahwana is shown as a hero for the country and the people he leads.

This article will analyze the representation of Rahwana's heroism displayed in Agus Sunyoto's Rahuvanna Tattwa novel. Analysis of the representation of heroism in Ravana's figures was carried out using the representation approach proposed by Stuart Hall. The research method used in this article is a descriptive qualitative method by collecting primary and secondary data. The primary data used is the novel Rahuvanna Tattwa by Agus Sunyoto published in 2006, while secondary data in the form of other references that are relevant to the research problem. Data collection techniques, namely literature study. Data analysis techniques in the form of content analysis.
