Abstract

In 2018, Kadita was the chosen character to represent Indonesian mythical hero in Mobile Legends. She represents ocean goddess with the power to control the might of ocean. Yet, her existence was mediated but remain sexualized for the sake of man’s pleasure as the bearer of the look. Indeed, Kadita’s body inscribed the beauty of South Sea Queen but the narrative of this game still posits woman associated with the devils. This thesis is highlighted more with the new trailer released with the soundtrack of Lathi, a fantastic song by Weird Genius ft Sara Fajira.

The aim of this paper is to reveal the articulation of sexualized mythical hero’s body in Mobile Legends. This research was done using Mulvey’s Visual and narrative theory. Thus, I argue that the sexualized body of Kadita is constructed under male gaze, while the narrativity posits this body as a site for monstrousing women. This scophophilia is manifested by fetishing Kadita’s first and second skin that reveal the beauty and sexy figure to boost the fantasy of man under heterosexuality. While the narrativity continuing this fantasy into the object of voyeurism in which it positioned Kadita as the object of the curse. At last, the powerful Kadita is castrated through the relation with the evil. This is aimed at subjugating woman since woman is seen as the threat or danger for any dominant structure.
