Employees with good English language skills tend to have greater opportunities to get a better position in their career. Practitioners should consider the trend of the labor force by conducting a need analysis to explore how language is used in the workplaces. This is important because English language learning as Basic Common Subjects should be in line with the needs of stakeholders.

Considering the fact that Karawang, Indonesia is the biggest industrial city in the country, the need for employee with good English will definitely continue to rise. The main task of a vocational school was preparing it’s pupil in order to be ready to work and have a skill required by stakeholders.

This research aims to identify the needs of the industry related to English Language competence for their employees. This research used a qualitative approach by means of documentation, interview, and survey methods.

The results show that the employees need English communication skills especially in speaking and writing. They need the skills to handle clients, presenting the reports, and handling complaints. These results could be a foundation to prepare English materials to help the students when they are learning English at some vocational schools in Karawang.
