Abstract


Introduction: Eating regularly in the culture of weightlifting becomes in important aspect, this is because weightlifting is a sport that is competed based on body weight. In addition, eating habits will affect the performance and development of muscle mass. On the other hand, good food intake is usually supported by adequate nutritional knowledge. Therefore, this study examines the level of nutritional knowledge and food intake of Indonesian professional weightlifters. Thus, it can make recommendations for improving Indonesia's achievements.

Method: The method used in this study using a 24 recall questionnaire. The sample in this study were 24 professional athletes who have minimum experience at the national level and maximum medal winners at the Sea Games..

Results: None of the athletes met the consumption recommendations for athletes. In fact, only 54% of the protein was met by the samples. In addition, the sample's knowledge of good nutrition is still low.

Conclusions: The level of nutrition intake consumed by athletes is still not optimal, as well as the level of knowledge of athletes about good nutrition for athletes. This is very worrying and must be a special concern if you want to improve your performance even better.
