Abstract

Introduction: Anthropometry is one component that must be considered in the athlete development process. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to provide information about the somatotype anthropometry of Indonesian Junior Badminton Athletes
Methods: 40 adolescent athletes, consisting of men (n=20) and women (n=20) aged 19 years were involved in this study. All samples performed measurement tests using skinfold at triceps, subscapular, calf, and supraspine. Calculation of the somatotype formula is used to search. Heath-Carter somatotypes were determined in all the subjects. Anova is used to see the difference between female and male athletes.
Results: The somatotype formulation showed mesomorph for men, while women had a tendency towards endomorph. While the ANOVA showed a difference (p < 0.05) between men and women, which showed more specifically that women had a higher body mass index (BMI) than men.
Conclusion: This study shows the somatotype characteristics of Indonesian badminton junior athletes, namely mesomorphs, and endomorphs for female junior athletes.
