Abstract


Background: Parent who have a children diagnose with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) has a higer level of stress beside a parent who have a children with normal development. Mindfulnes therapy can be a solution for the problem. Two types of mindfulnes therapy that can be applied to reduce stress inparent with ASD children is Mindfullness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).

Outcome: To find out which is more effective between Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) for reducing stress in parents whit ASD children.

Method: Framework design with PICO. Then electronic data based was found by a search in four reseach portals (Pub Med, Science Direct, Sage Journal, and Google Scholar). Databases were filtered using PRISMA method. The final result is the final journal can be studied and discussed.

Result: There ware 5 articles  (3 contain MBSR therapy, 2 contain ACT). After the study process was done, we discovered that stress levels decrease more significantly in MBSR therapy. Meanwhile, the stress levels in ACT did not decrease significantly. So we can conclude MBSR Therapy is more effective to reduce the stress levels in ASD parents than ACT.

Conclusion: A more significant change of stress level in a parent of children with ASD was found in MBSR therapy than in ACT.

Implications for nursing and policy: To reduce level of stress in parents with ASD children, a care providers can use MBSR Therapy than ACT. Meanwhile, to increase commitment in treatment for children with ASD, they can use ACT.
