ABSTRACT

 

Introduction: Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) is rapidly causing a global health crisis and pandemic. In this dangerous condition, it is important to increase stamina and immunity to prevent the transmission of the virus. This can be done by taking supplements or vitamins as prophylactic therapy or adjuvant for COVID-19 therapy. Supplements that are often used include vitamin D, vitamin C, vitamin E, vitamin B complex, zinc, curcuma, and n-acetylcysteine. This study aims to overview the supplement used and to know the most dominant supplement given to COVID-19 patients.

Method: This study was an observational with a descriptive cross sectional study design with purposive sampling. Data was collected retrospectively based on medical records of COVID-19 inpatient at Ajibarang Regional General Hospital in November 2020.

Result: The results showed that the COVID-19 patients were women 55.88% and men 44.11%. Supplement therapy administered from 34 patients showed that the most commonly prescribed drug was vitamin C 16.00%, vitamin D 8.80%, combination of vitamin C and B complex 12.80%, NAC 19.20%, zinc 21.60% and curcuma 21.60%.

Conclusion: The most dominant supplements used at Ajibarang Regional General Hospital in November 2020 were zinc and curcuma with a percentage of 21.60%.
