ABSTRACT

Introduction: Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is a pathogenic outbreak caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus and has become a global problem. SARS-CoV-2 is a positive-stranded RNA virus belonging to the Betacoronavirus genus. Various clinical trials for the treatment of COVID-19 have been carried out on various drugs. Antiviral treatment for COVID-19 therapy that is quite often given to patients is oseltamivir and avigan. This study aimed to determine the most dominant antiviral used in the treatment of COVID-19 at the Banyumas Regional General Hospital.

Method: This study was a descriptive observational study using retrospective data through medical records of hospitalized COVID-19 patients at the Banyumas Regional General Hospital in June, July, August, November and December 2020. Data collected from medical records includes gender, comorbidities, contact history, patient complaints, vital signs, laboratory data, supporting examinations and antiviral treatment.

Result: The results showed that of the 25 hospitalized COVID-19 patients who received antiviral therapy, 92% of patients received Oseltamivir and 8% of the patients received Avigan.

Conclusion: The most widely used antiviral therapy is oseltamivir with a percentage of 92%.
