ABSTRACT

Introduction : COVID-19 is a disease that has spread around the world since March 2020. COVID-19 can be identified by general symptoms such as fatigue, sneezing, sore throat, dry cough, high fever, respiratory problems such as pneumonia, until death occurs. One of the therapies given to COVID-19 patients is supplements to help support the patient's immune system.

Method : This study aimed to describe the use of supplement therapy in COVID-19 patients who are hospitalized at the Banyumas Regional General Hospital. This study was an observational study with a descriptive cross sectional design. Data was collected retrospectively based on medical records of COVID-19 patients hospitalized at the Banyumas Regional General Hospital in June, July, August, November and December 2020.

Results : The results showed that the percentage of COVID-19 patients at Banyumas Hospital was women 52.8% and men 47.2% with more patients under 60 years old as much as 83.4%. Supplement therapy administered to 36 patiens showed that the use of supplements included curcuma 45.95%, Vitamin C 43.2%, Zinc 5.45%, Mecobalamin 2.7%, Vitamin B6 1.35%, and Vitamin B1 1.35%.

Conclusion : The results showed that the most widely used supplement therapy is curcuma with a percentage of 45.95%.
