Abstract
Drug Use Utilization of N-Acetylcysteine (NAC) in COVID-19 Patients
at Santa Elisabeth General Hospital Purwokerto

ABSTRACT
Introduction : Infection of SARS-CoV-2 or COVID-19 is associated with an imbalance of oxidants and antioxidants which lead to inflammation and tissue damage. One of the therapy for COVID-19 is N-acetylcysteine (NAC). This study aimed to identify drug use utilization of NAC as antioxidant in COVID-19 patient in Santa Elisabeth General Hospital, Purwokerto.
Method : This study was an observational study with a descriptive cross-sectional design. Data was collected retrospectively based on medical records of COVID-19 patients hospitalized at Santa Elisabeth General Hospital between September 2020 to March 2021. Data in this study were analysed descriptively.
Result :. The results showed that the percentage of COVID-19 patients at Santa Elisabeth General Hospital was 48.51% male and 51.85% female. There were 86 patients (85.14%) administered with NAC, the recovery rate was 83.65% and the death rate was 16.35%.
Conclusion : This study indicated that the administration of N-acetylcysteine (NAC) in COVID-19 at Santa Elisabeth General Hospital was 85.14% and the recovery rate 85.65%.
