Abstract
Effect of High-Intensity Interval Training on the Vo2 Max Level

Background: Interval training adheres to the principle of adaptation. Interval training leads to many physiological changes including an increase in cardiovascular efficiency the ability to deliver oxygen to the working muscles as well as increased tolerance to the build-up of lactic acid
Purpose: This study aims to determine the effect of High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) on the level of VO2 Max tennis athlete student activity unit Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta.
Methods: This research method is a pre-experimental design one group pre-test post-test design. The study population numbered 10 people and used a total sampling technique to obtain a sample size of 10 people. The research instrument used is the Multistage Fitness Test (MFT). The data analysis technique used was a paired t-test, namely by analyzing the results of the pretest and posttest before and after treatment with the same data sample. Before the t-test, the normality and homogeneity tests were first carried out.
Results: The results showed that there was an effect of High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) on increasing the level of VO2 Max tennis athlete student activity unit Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta. Based on the results of the paired t test, the p value (sig.) was 0.003. Significance value 0.003 < 0.05.
Conclusion: Thus it can be concluded that there is an effect of HIIT exercise on VO2 Max
