Abstract

Tuberculosis (TB) is a chronic disease which is still a major health problem in the world. Indonesia is one of the countries that has the biggest burden of TB. So far, the success of TB treatment has only been seen from microscopic examination, but this has not taken into account the quality of life of TB patients. Decreased quality of life in TB patients can lead to treatment delays and a negative impact on treatment continuity, causing treatment to be interrupted or incomplete (drop out). This study was conducted to determine the quality of life of TB sufferers during the treatment period and the factors that influence it (gender, education, occupation, income, length of treatment, family support, comorbidities, smoking habits and anxiety levels).

Measurement of quality of life using the SF-36 instrument. This research is an analytical research with a processional study design. The research subjects were all TB patients who were still undergoing TB treatment in 4 working areas of the Puskesmas in Banyumas Regency as many as 42 people. Data analysis used was univarite that showed the frequency distribution of each quality of life domain.

The analysis showed that the quality of life of TB patients was mostly good (56.1%). The highest quality of life domain is mental health (88.5) and the lowest is the physical role domain (40.2).
