The Effect of Dysmenorrhea Gymnastics on the Level of Dysmenorrhea in Nursing Students at the Indonesian Muslim University

Abstract


Introduction: Pain management in overcoming dysmenorrhea can be done in 2 ways, namely pharmacological and non-pharmacological techniques. Dysmenorrhea exercise is one of the relaxation techniques that can be used to reduce dysmenorrhea because when doing sports or gymnastics, the brain and spinal cord will produce endorphins, hormones that function as natural sedatives and cause a sense of comfort.Method: This study uses quantitative methods. Design used is Quasy Experiment with a non-equivalent control group pre-post test approach. in this study using a porposive sampling technique with a sample of 30 respondents. The statistical test used is the paired T-Test. Pain level was measured using the Numeric Rating Scale (NRS) pain scale.Results: The results showed that dysmenorrhea exercise had an effect on decreasing dysmenorrhea, it was obtained information that, p-value 0.000. While in the control group there was no decrease in the level of dysmenorrhea. The results of the paired sample t-test showed a p-value of 0.334 it means that there was no significant difference in the level of dysmenorrhea in the control group of nursing students.Conclusions: The conclusion of this study is that dysmenorrhea exercise has an effect on decreasing dysmenorrhea in nursing students at the Muslim University of IndonesiaKeywords: Dysmenorrhea Gymnastics, Nursing Student
