The Impact of Physical and Psychological Attribute to Sprint Performance of Indonesian Athlete during Preparation of SEA Games 2021

Abstract


The study explore the impact of physical and psychological attribute of Indonesia sprinter toward the acceleration and maximum velocity performance. Method. This study conduct a cross-sectional of retrospectives causal-comparative design method. The 28th of elite athletes of Indonesia are selected according to inclusion and exclusion criteria. The instrument applied was the Standing Jump (SJ), Triple Hop Jump (THJ), Speed Bounding (SB), Forward Shocken (FS), Leg Dynamometer (LD), Foot Tapping (FT), Ladder Test (LT), Sit and Reach (SR), 150m-Sprint (SS) and Multistage Fitness Test (MFT), following with The Psychological Skills Inventory for Sports (PSIS) and 15th minutes kraepelin-test. The data analysis techniques implemented were descriptive, correlational and document analysis. Results. The average profiles of strength and power shows in high number, meanwhile the endurance and coordination are in moderate-, following by the flexibility is in low level. Subsequently, the motivation and concentration shows in high level, in contrast with pressure control and anxiety are in low level, meanwhile stress, mental preparation are in moderate level. The relationship between physical with performance shows high significances (p<0,05, r=0,012), while psychological and performance describe moderate significances (p<0,05, r=0,034), following by physical toward psychological profile illustrates a moderate significant value (p<0,005, r=0,021). Conclusion. The five aspects of bio-motor ability have high contribution to the sprint performance, than psychological attribute shows high evidences to strengthens the performance, while the profile of physical level has high contribution on building-up of the mental profile of elite athletes.
