Recognizing depression in the elderly requires skill and experience, because the classic manifestations of depression often do not appear. Along with the development and advancement of technology, many complementary therapies have been researched and tested for success in the world. Among them, those that have been researched and tested for success are using laughter therapy and music therapy. Objective: To find out which is more effective between laughter therapy and music therapy in reducing depression in the elderly, based on previous research. Reasearch Methods: The method of determining the framework uses PICO. Then search for articles using electronic database such as PubMed Full Text, Scientific Direct and Google Scholar. The database is filtered using prisms. Search articles used are the last 5 years. Results: Based on 4 articles, they were 2 articles on laughter therapy and 2 articles on music therapy. After the review stated that laughter therapy was more significant in reducing depression. Meanwhile, music therapy also decreased but not significantly. Therefore, it can be said that laughter therapy is more effective in reducing depression in the elderly.
