Abstract

Introduction: Nurses need experience and knowledge in serving patients. One of the methods used is through patient identification so that there are no errors that can be fatal if the patient receives a medical procedure that is not in accordance with the patient's condition, for example the wrong drug is given. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between work motivation and nurse compliance in identifying patients on drug administration.

Method: The design of this study was observational with a cross sectional study approach. Sampling was carried out by total sampling on 43 nurses at the Faisal Islamic Hospital, Makassar. The instrument used was a work motivation questionnaire and a nurse compliance observation sheet. The statistical test used is Chi Square with a confidence level of = 0.05.

Results: The results showed that there was a relationship between work motivation and nurse compliance in identifying patients on drug administration with a value (p = 0.035).

Conclusions: Work motivation is related to nurse compliance in identifying patients on drug administration. Therefore, there is a need for periodic supervision by the head of the room regarding the compliance of nurses in administering drugs according to the standard operating procedure set by the hospital.
