Description Of Neurologic Status In Stroke Patients Based On National Institutes Of Health Scale Stroke At Stroke Center South Sulawesi

Abstract


Introduction:World Health Organization (WHO) estimates than 17.5 million people die from stroke. paralysis of one side of the body, stiff muscles, visual disturbances,impaired perception,unstable emotions, disorders Brain damage is the impact of stroke. The National Institute of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) is a systematic assessment tool that quantitatively measures stroke-related neurologic deficits. Examination includes neurological: motor, sensory, consciousness, sublime functions.

Method: The method used is quantitative with a descriptive approach, the research was carried out in the city of Makassar, sample was 42 people, the inclusion criteria were conscious patients, hospitalization and exclusion criteria were patients with complications.

Result: NIHSS assessment showed that highest results were patients were respondents experiencing moderate-scale stroke as many as 18 people (42.9%), male sex 73 (53.7%) and high school education level 28 (66.7%) .

Conclusions: The NIHSS of moderate neurological grade is higher than of patients with severe stroke and for the age group 46-55 years more, the last education level is Senior High School
