The Effect of Spiritual Intelligence on Spiritual Care in Inpatients

Abstract


Introduction: The spiritual aspect is a basic need that is believed to have a role and benefit in the healing of patients. The provision of quality nursing care must have a spiritual aspect in the interaction between nurses and patients, starting from forming a trusting relationship, facilitating a supportive environment, and including spirituality in planning the delivery of quality nursing care. This study aims to determine the effect of spiritual intelligence on spiritual care in inpatients.

Method: The design of this research is an analytic survey using cross sectional study method. The sampling technique was total sampling with a sample size of 30 nurses at the Buton District Hospital. This study used research instruments in the form of questionnaires and observation sheets. Statistical test using Chi Square with a significance level of < 0.05.

Results: The results of this study indicate that nurses who have spiritual intelligence are 43.3% and there is an influence between nurse intelligence on spiritual care for patients (p=0.008).

Conclusions : There is an influence of the spiritual intelligence of nurses on the spiritual care of patients at the Buton District Hospital. Therefore, it is expected that hospital management pays attention to and motivates nurses in spiritual nursing training on a regular basis
