Abstract

Introduction : The neonatal period is the most at risk of survival barriers. Neonatal mortality occupies the highest proportion that occurs in newborns in the world. This is caused by several factors including maternal age, maternal education, parity, LBW, ANC services. This study aims to determine the risk factors associated with neonatal mortality in RSIA Pertiwi Makassar City Makassar.

Method: Design This study uses an observational method with a retrospective approach, where the total population is 57 respondents with purposive sampling technique and the number of samples is taken from the total population of 57 respondents. Collecting data using observation sheets. Data processing using a computer program is presented in the form of a table. The statistical test used was chi-square with a significant level of p < 0.05.

Result: The results of this study indicate that there is no relationship between maternal age and neonatal mortality with p value = 0.021 > 0.05, there is a relationship between maternal education and neonatal mortality with p value = 0.001 < 0.005 and there is a relationship between parity factor and neonatal mortality. with p value = 0.000 <0.005.

Conclusions: The conclusion of this study shows that there is no relationship between the age factor and neonatal mortality, and there is a relationship between the education factor and the parity factor with neonatal mortality. It is recommended for health workers to provide counseling to pregnant women and prospective pregnant women focused on low maternal education, the need to improve family planning methods (KB) so that the amount of parity can be regulated.
