Abstract

Nutrients and plant growth regulators (PGR) are important ingredients needed by plants to increasing growth, leaf, root and shoot multiplication in tissue culture. Vegetable and animal organic materials is known containing nutrients and PGR which are useful in plant growth and development. The purpose of writing this article is to describe some plant and animal-based organic materials and their potential as an additional nutrients and natural PGRs in tissue culture. From the research studied, it was found that extracts of purple sweet potato, banana peel and bean sprouts which are included in vegetable organic matter containing PGRs that needed by plants, and fish emulsion as animal organic material contains nutrients that are useful for plant growth and development in in vitro cultivation. Bean sprout extract contains cytokinin which plays a role in the process of cell division, tissues formation, and the formation of plant shoots, banana peel extract contains kinetin and zeatin hormones which are included in the cytokinin hormone group, purple sweet potato contains auxin hormone which promotes cell division, stem and root growth, and fish emulsion contains plant nutrients such as N, P and K which are useful for plant growth.
