Distribution and Incidence of Banana Blood Disease in Banyumas Regency

Abstract


Blood disease is one of the important diseases of bananas in Indonesia. The disease is caused by Ralstonia syzygii subsp. celebensis. The disease could be transmitted by water, infected banana seed, and agricultural tools. Information related to the distribution and incidence of the blood disease in Banyumas Regency is not available. This research aims to determine the distribution and incidence of banana blood disease in Banyumas Regency. Survey and sampling collection were done in 10 districts by purposive random sampling methods. Molecular characterization was conducted at the Plant Protection Laboratory of Unsoed. The research showed that blood disease was distributed in 10 districts, with 100-400 masl of altitude. Covering the district of Baturraden, Sumbang, Karanglewas, Rawalo, Wangon, Purwojati, Gumelar, Ajibarang, Kemranjen, and Somagede. The banana blood disease incidence was recorded at 0,20 to 26,09 %.
