Composition and Abundance of Ground Insects in Areas Affected by Ant Population Outbreak

Abstract


There has been an outbreak of ant population in Pageraji Village, Cilongok District, Banyumas Regency at the end of 2020, this year's preliminary research was conducted to know the composition and soil insects on attack land in Pageraji Village. This research needs to be carried out to obtain an overview of soil insects which are one of the resources that play a role in the community and play an important role in protecting food in attack area. The research was conducted from April to May 2021 on three fields, namely guava, long bean, and cassava land. The study used survey method with random sampling technique. On each plot, transect lines were made diagonally. Each transect was made in ten quadrants, each of which was installed with three pitfall traps for three days. The results showed that the composition of insects in the long bean field obtained 489 individuals from 15 families, the guava field obtained 318 individuals from 14, and the cassava field obtained 240 individuals from 14 families. Based on the ecosystem, there were 45.85% detritivores, 0.57% parasitoids, 44.12% predators, 3.15% mycophages, and 6.3% herbivores. Of the 44.12% of predatory insects, 86.34% were dominated by the Formicidae family.
