Abstract

Regional development is an effort to maximize resources to improve community welfare. Local governments must identify the leading sector to facilitate the formulation of appropriate policies to achieve development goals. This study aims to identify the contribution trend, growth rate trend, and factors influencing the roles of the agriculture, forestry, and fishery sectors in Banyumas Regency. The study employs secondary time series data from 2011 to 2020 of gross regional domestic income (GRDI) contribution in the agriculture, forestry, and fishery sectors and GRDI at constant 2010 prices. The analysis results show that the time variable influences the contribution and growth rate of the agriculture, forestry, and fishery sectors.  Its value is expected to decrease each year. Agriculture, forestry, and fishery are classified as non-basic sectors with stars. Based on the Klassen typology analysis, these sectors are included in the category of potential sectors. According to the shift-share analysis, the roles of these sectors are influenced by the growth of national and regional shares. The government must develop priority sector development policies based on the results of sector classification analysis to maximize regional potential. It is critical to increase the motivation of the young generation to work in agriculture.
