Abstract

One of the important factors the cultivation of shallots is fertilization. Farmers tend use inorganic fertilizers increase their agricultural yields. The solution overcome the excessive use inorganic fertilizers is vermicompost. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of vermicompost and reduced doses N,P,K fertilizers on the growth and yield of shallots. The research design was a randomized block design consisting of 2 factors, vermicompost; V0 (vermicompost 0 ton/ha); V1 (vermicompost 20 tons/ha); V2 (vermicompost 40 tons/ha) and N,P,K fertilizers; P1 (100% N,P,K fertilizer); P2 (fertilizer N,P,K 75%); P3 (50% N, P, K fertilizer). 9 treatment combinations with 3 replications consisting of 5 plant samples applied with combination of vermicompost and N,P,K fertilizer. At 10-50 days after planting, the total leaf length and number leaves were measured with an interval of 10 days. At the end of the observation, the total root length, tuber number, tuber diameter, fresh tuber weight, dry tuber weight, fresh plant weight, and dry plant weight were measured. The data collected were analyzed by ANOVA followed by the 5% DMRT test. The results of this study showed that the combination of vermicompost and N,P,K fertilizer was able to reduce the use of N,P,K fertilizer. The interaction of vermicompost 20 tons/ha and a dose of 75% N,P,K fertilizer had the best effect on fresh tuber weight (70.97 grams), dry bulb weight (11.92 grams) and fresh plant weight (96.52 grams). Based on the results of the study, the combination of vermicompost and N, P, K fertilizers had an effect on the yield of shallots.
