Abstract

The low productivity of acid sulfate soils requires effective materials with abundant availability as a fertilizer. Utilization of organic material with high lignocellulosic content such as rice husks, empty fruit bunches, and water chestnuts can be processed into ameliorants by formating biochar so they can be utilized. The research aims to compare the production of Inpari Zinc with an improvement of acid sulfate soil properties that are applied to biochar from these materials with a completely randomized design of two factors: the source of material and level of application dose. The measurement data of bulk weight, porosity, pyrite, C-organic, number of productive tillers, and weight of dry milled grain for each treatment were tested using the DMRT 5% to determine the source of biochar and the effective dose. The results showed that rice husk biochar was able to increase the production of Inpari Zinc with an application dose of 300 g and 450 g by improving the characteristics of acid sulfate mineral soils. Enrichment of nutrients and biological agents in biochar is needed so that its application can maximize soil capabilities to encourage optimization of plant productivity.
