Development Strategy of Robusta Coffee Business: Increasing Productivity and Improving the Quality and Consistency

Abstract


Low coffee prices and high production costs are two of the most significant issues confronting coffee farmers, making it difficult for them to expand their farming operations. The objective of this research is to examine the strategy for developing Robusta coffee farming in Capar Village, Brebes District. This study's design is qualitative research. Robusta coffee farmers who actively participate in farmer group activities, are experienced, and have coffee plants that have already been producedĀ are the subjects of this study. Interviews, observation, and documentation were used to collect data for this study. The data analysis methods used are: 1) IFE Matrix; 2) EFE Matrix; 3) IE Matrix; 4) SWOT Matrix. With a value of 2.876, the IFE matrix analysis of Robusta coffee farming in Capar Village was classified as strong. The EFE matrix results also indicate that Robusta coffee farming in Capar Village is classified as strong, with a value of 3.421. This position is in the grow and build strategy via intensive and integration strategies. Based on the SWOT matrix results, nine alternative strategies were developed with two prior alternatives, namely, increasing productivity and improving the quality and consistency of Robusta coffee in Capar Village, Brebes District.
